Rhinoplasty is a surgery used to alter the size or shape of your nose. Commonly called a “nose job,” this procedure can transform your face and help you feel great about the way you look. In addition to the cosmetic benefits of rhinoplasty, the procedure can also correct structural issues that hamper normal breathing.
Some of the issues rhinoplasty can correct include:
Best of all, rhinoplasty can correct multiple issues with just one procedure.
Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure done conveniently in-office. You receive medication to help you rest comfortably from start to finish. Dr. Angobaldo places small incisions either within your nose or across the strip of tissue that connects your nostrils.
Your skin is gently raised to gain access to the underlying cartilage and bone. Adjustments are made to those tissues to improve the shape and size of your nose. In some cases, bone and cartilage are removed, and in others, a cartilage graft is used to build up areas of your nose.
Once he’s pleased with those changes, Dr. Angobaldo re-drapes your skin and closes the incisions. You are provided with splints, gauze packing, and other stabilizing methods to support your nose during the initial phase of the healing process.
In the first few days and weeks, a degree of swelling is to be expected. As the swelling subsides you begin to see the effects of your surgery.
It takes time for your body to heal. As the months pass you notice more improvements, although it can take as long as a full year for the complete results to be apparent. The good news is that your results are permanent.
